Alan B. Cory, 74, of Seymour passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.  He was born on April 3, 1949, in Pueblo, Colorado, the son of the late Ralph Lee and Vera Marie (Robey) Cory.  On August 22, 1986, he married Theresa Lynn Noyce in Hinesville, Georgia and she survives.

In addition to his wife Theresa, Alan is survived by four children, Chantelle C. Cory, Philip M. (Jessica) Cory, Amanda L. Ross, and Heather L. Land; six grandchildren, Cassidy (Justin) Malone, Aiden Ross, Landon Ross, Christian Cowles, Elijah Cowles, and Colten Pelfrey.  Alan is also survived by one brother, Raymond (Susan) Cory and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Michael S. Cory, and one brother, Kenneth L. Childress.

Alan was a devoted military man.  He served his country in the United States Army on several occasions beginning in 1969 until 1971 during the Vietnam War.  He re-enlisted with the army on February 13, 1980, and was honorably discharged on July 23, 1991, as a Staff Seargeant.  While in the army he worked as an air traffic control tower operator.

After serving his country in the Army Alan went on to work as a truck driver for over twenty years working for several companies.  He was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team and was a previous member of the American Legion and VFW lodges in Seymour.  He enjoyed playing sudoku, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with his family as well as with his dog Maggie.   Alan loved his Lord and Saviour and was a member of Seymour Christian Church.  He was devoted to his family and would stop at anything to help them and was a loving and caring person who always gave to those who were in need.

Graveside services will take place on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #9 from Madison, Indiana and the United States Army Burial Detail.  A celebration of life for Alan will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 2 p.m. at the Seymour Christian Church with Pastor Steven Bruce officiating.  The family will greet friends after the services at the church where a reception will be held.
