Amos L. Maschino, 88, of North Vernon, passed away August 12, 2018 at Seymour Crossing. He was born at home on August 5, 1930 at Four Corners in Jennings County to Victor and Ruth (Hawk) Maschino; both of whom preceded him in death.
Funeral Mass will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at St. Joseph Catholic Church Four Corners on Thursday, August 16 at 10:30 am with Father Jerry Byrd assisted by Deacon Larry French officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Four Corners.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday from 4-8 pm and Thursday from 9-9:45 am. A Rosary service will be conducted at 3:30 pm on Wednesday.
On August 6, 1960, he married Dorene G. Vogel at St. Joseph Catholic Church Four Corners. Amos was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church Four Corners and had served in many areas. Amos was a hardworking dairy and grain farmer. He began farming in a time before the use of electricity or tractors, using horses and mules to work the land. During his lifetime, he participated in the evolution of farming from the early use of threshing machines to modern-day use of combines. In his later years, Amos returned to the romantic farming practices of his youth working with Belgium work horses and mules. He spent many Sunday afternoons giving hayrides to his grandchildren. Amos also enjoyed working with wood including cutting trees, running his own sawmill, and building furniture.
Amos is survived by his wife Dorene of 58 years and their eight children, Annette (Mike) Pollert, Vicki (Tim) Joslin, Peggy (Roberto) Garcia, Jeff (Diane) Maschino, Kathy (Tracy) Wehmiller, Tim (Sandy) Maschino, John (Missi) Maschino and Amy (Greg) Densborn; 24 grandchildren including 15 granddaughters and 9 grandsons; and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Agnes Euler and Irene (Harry J.) Simmons.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Floyd, Paul, LeRoy, Roger, twin brother Arthur, and Sister Juanita.
