A Life Well Lived, Full of Love and Enjoyment

Arnoldus “Arnold” Godding passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the age of 88. He was a resident of Seymour.

Born one of 11 children to Louis and Marie “Meerke” (Halter) Godding on March 7, 1934, in Maastricht, the Netherlands, Arnold immigrated to this country in 1960. Survivors who mourn his passing include his beloved wife Nellie (van Spaandonk); sons Peter of Chicago (Gerald) and Louis “Luke” (Jennifer) and John of Seymour; grandchildren Tara, Luka, Grace, Louis, and Raylan; and great grandchildren Taylor, Walker, Leethan, and Louis.

Arnold was employed at Seymour Manufacturing as a tool and die maker for 28 years, retiring in 1997.

Arnold enjoyed travels to distant countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia (Bali), and China, but his most cherished trips were those frequent returns to Maastricht, where he visited with friends and family and also shared a special bond with his nephew Louie and his wife Marrion and their son Maaik.

A stranger to no one, Arnold relished life and lived it to the fullest, enjoying such varied pastimes as bow-and-arrow target shooting, pheasant and deer hunting, nature walks, televised wrestling, and carpentry.

A memorial service at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour will be held at a future date, and donations can be made to the Riverview Cemetery tree replacement memorial.

The family of Arnold Godding wishes to thank Lutheran Community Home, Schneck Medical Center, and Family Drug of Seymour for their care and concern during this time of bereavement.
