Mr. Arthur “Art” Moorman, 85, of Seymour, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at his residence with his wife and family by his side.
He was born on April 16, 1929 in Jackson County, Indiana; the son of the late, Alfred and Mary (Kleffman) Moorman.
After graduating from Cortland High School, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War; he was classified with the honor of “Marksman”.
Mr. Moorman was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers. He was a lifelong farmer and school bus driver for the Seymour Community School Corporation for 51 years. He was a great role model to the many children he transported through his 51 years of school bus driving.
He loved his family, especially enjoying their company on many camping expeditions. Many in the Jackson County Community will remember the parades which Art would enter with his grandchildren as he commandeered “Grandpa’s Pride Train”.
On October 17, 1954, he married the love of his life, Betty L. Abell in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers.
Mr. Moorman is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; his daughters: Terry (Mike) Searcy, Natalie (Doug) Fish, Judy Burke, and Pam (Roger) Huffman, grandchildren: Jamie (Michael) Baker, Bobby (Jon) Marley, Sean Searcy, Mindy (Ryan) Sifflard, Jason Fish, Kelly (Adam) Culbreth, Jeff Rotert, Darrell Rotert, Brian Kendall and Matt Kendall; great grandchildren: Eliana, Kayla, Hannah, and Caleb Baker; Isaac Rotert; Camden and Hadley Sifflard; and Paxton Culbreth: and a brother-in-law, Dick Wessel.
In addition to his parents, Art is preceded in death by his sisters: Mabel Hoene and Katherine Wessel, and a brother-in-law, Wilmer Hoene.
The Service of Christian Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 with The Rev. Steven Wood, officiating.
Family and friends may call in the Church on Tuesday after 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. in the church, until time of service .
Burial will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, with full military honors provided by the V.F.W. Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Memorials may be given through Voss and Sons Funeral Service, to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers. All arrangements are being handled by the caring staff of Voss Funeral Service in Seymour.
