Arthur Blake Huddleston went home to be with Jesus on March 8, 2015. He was born June 28, 1921 in Milton, Indiana to William and Ruth (Leverton) Huddleston. He married Betty (Roegge) Huddleston on December 23, 1944.
He retired from Beneficial Finance, where he worked in Seymour, Muncie, and Evansville, then from Home Federal, and finally from Knight’s Inn (at the age of 89). He was a member of Gideons International, a former president of the local Kiwanis Club, and a past member of the Toastmasters Club. He was an elder emeritus and Sunday school teacher at Central Christian Church (Seymour). He had also served as an elder and Sunday school teacher at Seymour Christian Church and University Christian Church (Muncie). He was a loving husband and father and an example of Christian living and service, as evidenced by having four of his five sons become preachers.
He participated in seven successful invasions during World War II. He served on a top secret naval vessel that would mimic the sound of airplanes and battleships to distract the enemy, while the actual invasion would occur elsewhere.
He is survived by his sons: David (Mary Ellen) Huddleston (Cincinnati, OH) and his sons Danny, Chris, and Tim; Mark (Martha) Huddleston (Omaha, Neb.) and his sons Nathan, Matthew, Jonathan, and Jeremy; Wayne (Pam) Huddleston (Seymour) and his sons Ryan and Brad; Paul (Claudia) Huddleston (Seymour) and his son Lester; and Steve (Pam) Huddleston (Muncie) and his children Heather and Aaron. He had 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 69 years, his brother Laverne, and his sister Margaret (Scherer).
Visitation will take place at Voss Chapel on Wednesday, March 11 from 4-8pm and Thursday after 10:00am until the time of service at Central Christian Church. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00am at Central Christian Church with Rev. Lewis Wright officiating. Memorials may be given to the Gideons International or Central Christian Church.
