Betty Jeanette Bowling, 89, of Seymour, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Lutheran Community Home. Born in 1929, in Salem, Indiana, she was the daughter of Randall and Minnie Lucas both deceased. She married T.G. Bowling on January 8, 1949, in Brownstown, Indiana, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Bowling was a graduate of Tampico High School. She earned her CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) designation while working full-time and raising a family. Eventually, she received her Ph.D. in Insurance Theory from International University. She worked in the insurance industry for many years and was the owner of Hometown Insurance.
Betty was one of the founding members of the Brownstown Community Church where she was as a deaconess, served on various committees, played the piano and organ during church services, and enjoyed helping with church activities.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Vicki (David) Kelsey, Beverly Reel (Harold) Parker; four grandchildren, Andrea Clark, Jennifer (Christopher) Smith, Jeffrey (Katherine) Kelsey, Christi Kelsey. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, a brother Jerry (Betty) Lucas and two sisters, Margaret Lucas, JoAnn (Kurt) Gloger, sisters-in-law Reva (Ronald) Lucas, Mary Hurst, Doris Ray, and brother-in-law Jason (Marci) Bowling. Brother Ronald Lucas, sons-in-law David Kelsey and Charles Reel preceded her in death. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews along with friends in her community.
Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday, March 25 at 1 pm with Rev. Dan Defriece officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday from 11 am until time of service.
