Mr. Ted Jordan, 71, of Seymour passed away Tuesday morning, January 27, 2015, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
Mr. Jordan was a former manager of Freeman Municipal Airport and Industrial Park and a former Director of Community Development for the City of Seymour. In his capacity as Airport Manager he was given the responsibility for establishing a museum dedicated to the men and women who trained at the former Freeman Army Air Field during WW II. He had also retired from Jackson County Bank after 25 years of service where he opened and managed their first full service branch (Jackson Park). He later managed their Customer and Corporate Services departments.
He was a member of the Seymour Elks Lodge, American Legion, was a founding member and officer of the Freeman Army Air Field Museum, board member of A.R.C. of Jackson County and Community Service Council of Jackson County. He was also a former member of the evening Kiwanis Club of Seymour with 20 years of service.
He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church with his wife Mary Anne.
Ted was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 9, 1943, his mother’s twenty-first birthday, to Kes and Betty Jordan: both of whom preceded him in death. He married Mary Anne Plump Garriot on September 30, 1995.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Chris Jordan; a daughter, Lisa (Jeff) Richart and stepdaughter Mindy Maynard, granddaughters; Abby and Katy Jordan and Madalynn Richart. Grandsons; Tanner and Luke Richart. Step-grandsons; Scott and Cody Maynard. A brother, Mike (Linda) Jordan, sister Jane (Mike) Graham. Brother-in-law Jim (Jana) Plump. Several nieces and nephews, including Joel (Rachele) Jordan, Brent (Shellie) Jordan, Amy Spence, Josh Graham and Justin Graham along with several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at Voss Chapel on Friday, January 30th at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating.
Family and friends may call at Voss Funeral Service, Voss Chapel at 316 N. Chestnut St. on Thursday, January 29th from 2 to 8 p.m. and on Friday after 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
