Dale L. “Nort” Marsh, 86, of Seymour, Indiana went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday May 28, 2021, at Schneck Medical Center. Dale was born in 1935 to the late Paul Andrew Marsh and Opal Lorene Bedel Marsh.
On Jan 5, 1957, he married Mary Lucille Nicholson and she survives. Dale was a devout Christian and founding member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served as Deacon, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and was instrumental in bringing people to worship by driving the church bus into his 70’s. Dale preceded, his grandfather Otis Bedel, as Sexton of Riverview Cemetery for over 60 years, showing compassion to all families in their time of loss.
He extended his commitment, dedication and compassion during each Memorial Day Holiday by ensuring the beautification of the Cemetery and found pride in his efforts to recognize the importance of respecting and honoring those that had passed including all Veterans who served or died for our country.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, the I.U. Hoosiers, Duke University and the Indianapolis Colts He participated in local and regional baseball, softball and bowling. He coached Seymour Youth League Baseball for many years including coaching his son and grandson. He attended all of his grandchildren’s sporting events and was honored as Seymour High School Football Fan of the Year in 1997, when he delivered Woodrow Wilson’s speech “Never Give Up”, In Dale’s earlier years he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his friends “The Reddington Rascals “. Dale also thought the best movie ever was…. any that starred the late John Wayne.
He is survived by his wife, children; Kenny Marsh (Brenda Smith), Crystal Jill (Mark) Murray, Joe (Laura) Marsh, grandchildren; Matthew (Tracy) Murray, Amber (Ronnie) Schroer, Angela (Ben) Russell, Tracey Cole, Rockey Howard, Joe Howard, Lindsay (Kris) Niccolai, great-grandchildren; Chandler Johnson, Emmalynne Lopez, Alivia Becker, Ella Murray, Elijah Russell, Ava Murray, Lydia Niccolai,
Theodore Russell, and Alexia Rieckers, and great-great-grandchild Evalynne Sophia Lopez, brother William “Bill” Marsh, sister Clara Kamman and numerous nieces and nephews,
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Donald Marsh, Gerald Andrew Marsh, sisters; Wilma Tooley, Julia Ann Lazzell, and Linda Brown, and great-granddaughter Maecy Jewel Murray,.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday June 2, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, with Rev. Dan DeFriece officiating and assisted by Dave Murphy.
Family and friends visitation will be held on Tuesday June 1, 2021, at Voss Chapel from 4-7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12 p.m. until time of service.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
