Condolences to the Family of Daniel Thomas, Sr. In the West End we would choose up sides and play a game called slips. Where one team would have to find the other. Boundaries were two blocks Brown to Oak ST/ And Buckeye to Maple. One night as we were playing, the three of us decided to break the rule and proceeded to go to the root beer stand across from Waldkoetters filling station and West below the road grade that went over the railroad tracks. Team that I was on was Danny I have a fe Thomas, Kenny Edmonds, and myself. Other team did not find us as we were enjoying root beer and a coney. Also while growing up Danny's Father Jim would work on my Father,s old Rambler.. We lived at 917 West Laurel St. Have more memories while growing up. Michael Weber (Mickey)

Dear Mrs. Thomas. My name is Gene Brown. I worked with Danny during his years with Golden. I wish to extend my heart felt sympathy to you and your family. I always considered Danny a friend and I think the feeling was mutual. I was glad to see Danny was inducted into the Seymour High School Hall of Fame. I imagine he was thrilled and honored to have received that recognition.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Thomas. I had the pleasure of coaching Jason and Justin in AAU basketball and really enjoyed visiting with him during our summer schedule. A very humble and decent man, so glad I had the opportunity to know him. Kevin Wilson Monroe, Ga.

Veratrice, I'm sorry to here of Danny's passing. I looked up to him when I was a kid and wanted to be a basketball player just like him. I saw him last a Bethel AME and he still called me by my childhood nick name. I asked him how he remembered and he just laughed. May the Lord give you and family peace. Sincerely, Sam Browning

How sad I was to learn of Danny’s passing. I knew Danny from Shields High School playing football and basketball on the great Owl teams in the mid-fifties. He was one of the great athletes of all time as evidenced by his induction into the Seymour Athletic Hall of Fame; and he was a great person too! Your grief is shared by many! Denny Mahorney Decatur, IL
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

So many memories of Big Dan and his family when we were younger. We spent time at amusement parks and making homemade ice cream. Dan loved homemade ice cream until he found out raw eggs were part of the mixture. We had so many great times growing up with this fine man and Mrs. V.
