Mr. David Lee “Sonny” Fleehearty, age 85 of Seymour passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side. Sonny was born on December 22, 1929 in Seymour to Zella Elnora Rascoe and William Alfred Fleehearty. Sonny married Lena Patton in 1949 and she passed away in 1982. He married Dorothy Pearl (Hopper, Kilgas) on December 1, 1984. David was a member of Peters Switch Church of the Nazarene. David was an expert in the maintenance field and managed Moynahan properties. Sonny had a great sense of humor that the family will always remember as uplifting. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, sitting on the front porch, going to Madison, Indiana and sitting on a bench along the Ohio River. His greatest love was his family.
He is survived by his children William “Bill” (Amy) Fleehearty, Ronald L. (Mary) Fleehearty, Edwin (Cheryl) Fleehearty, Connie (Steve) Mettert, Jenny (Don) Pridgen, Bob Kilgas and 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. His survivors also include his brothers and sister, Kenneth Fleehearty, Roger Fleehearty, Jerry Coddington, and Sue Ann Morris.
He was proceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jane Fleehearty, brother Melvin Louis Fleehearty and step son Alfred Kilgas.
Funeral Service will be held at Voss Chapel on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 5 pm with Rev. Keith Ross officiating.
Family and friends may call at Voss Chapel, 316 N Chestnut St. on Sunday, February 22 from 2-5 pm. Burial will take place at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis with a graveside service on Monday, February 23, 2015 at 1 pm.
Family ask that memorials be made to Hospice of Schneck Medical Center.
