Debra Jean Wetzel, 61, of Seymour, beloved wife, daughter, mother and mamaw, passed away Thursday morning, May 9, 2019, as the result of a car accident.
Born Jan. 18, 1958, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Robert “Bob” Woodard, who survives in Seymour and the late Sharon Woodard.
She married Donald Wetzel Jr. on July 18, 1983, and he survives in Seymour. They have two daughters, January Rutherford and Whitney Reinhart, both of whom survive in Seymour.
Debbie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and worked at McDermott Orthodontics in Columbus.
She loved going to antique stores and garage sales, taking care of her three dogs, Maggie, Ace and Lola Blue, planting flowers, decorating the inside and outside of her home for every season and holiday, especially Christmas, listening to Christmas music year round, watching college basketball and relaxing in her pool in the summer. She always had a project for Donnie to work on.
What she loved most was spending time with her family, especially her daughters and grandsons, Jaxon and Knox Reinhart, both of whom loved going to mamaw’s house. Her eyes always lit up when she talked about them.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon Woodard, who died in 2006; her sister-in-law, Sheila Woodard, who died in 2015 and her stepmother, Sylvia Woodard, who died in 2016.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Donnie Wetzel; daughters, January (Anthony) Rutherford and Whitney (Scott) Reinhart; grandsons, Jaxon and Knox Reinhart; father, Robert Woodard; brother, Ed (Jill) Woodard; father- and mother-in-law, William “Bill” and Loreda Hendren; sisters-in-law, Lisa (Alan) Lewis, Teresa (John) Sowder, and Deb (Dan) Teel; brother-in-law, Steve (Rhonda) Wetzel; uncle, Tom (Ginny) Sutton; nieces, Katie (Tyler) Jenkins, Mandy (Kyle) Pilman, Hannah (Graham) Skinnari, Jessica (fiance, Nick Filosa) Wetzel and nephews, Michael Lewis, Boone (Kara) Dorsett; Eric (fiancee, Ashley Thompson) Hammett; other extended family members and many friends.
The funeral service will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, May 14 at 10 am with the Revs. Ralph Blomenberg, Philip Bloch, Jimmy Rodriguez and Vicar Tyler Werner officiating. Friends and family may visit Monday from 3 to 8 pm at Voss Funeral Home in Seymour and on Tuesday from 9 am until time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.
Memorial donations may be made in Debbie’s name to Red Sky Rescue or the Humane Society of Jackson County through the funeral home.
