Donald Schleter Jr.

July 12, 1952 - December 22, 2020

Mr. Donald Schleter Jr., 68, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday December 22, 2020 at his home. He was born in 1952 in San Antonio, Texas to Donald L. Schleter and the late Mary K. (Huber) Schleter.

Donald was a Lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist church where he was very active and served on the Board of Trustees, sang solos in the choir, taught Sunday school, and rang the church bells. He even would sing songs in German to the congregation. Donald will be greatly missed and was loved by his family and church family.

He was a handyman that could fix anything. He also enjoyed talking with his family and especially his nieces and nephews about history and current events. He loved wood working, gardening, playing classical music on the violin and riding his motorcycle. He was owner/operator of Quality Seeds in Seymour since 1969 and was a Seymour High School graduate of 1970.

Survivors include his father Donald L. Schleter Sr., brothers; Paul (Debi) Schleter and Mike (Terri) Schleter, 7 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and a great-great niece.

He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents.

Private graveside services will be conducted by Voss and Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, December 24, 2020 with Pastor Angel Abshear officiating.

The family appreciates all the prayers and concern for them in this time of loss. Donald Jr. will be missed by many friends in the community, but all services are private for the safety of the family and friends. Cards and notes of condolence will be most welcome.

In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks are required before admittance to the funeral home as well as social distancing within the building. We kindly ask that there be no physical contact such as hugs or handshakes to protect staff and the family. Attendance is limited to 25 people at any given time.

Family asks that memorial checks be written to Trinity United Methodist Church Improvement Fund through Voss and Sons Funeral Service.

I always admired Don's view on current events & his take on the big picture...a wonderful mind , loved to converse with him. His spirit was one to be admired & take guidance from. He truly will be missed.

Don was such a sweet and kind person, I always enjoyed hearing him sing at Church he will definitely be missed.

Don was an amazing man to know and work with at trinity. His love for music was a precious gift of God. And he was willing to climb or crawl anywhere in order to support his church. May the lord's comfort surround Don's family!
