Donnie Lewis

April 28, 1952 - March 18, 2015

Donnie Lewis, 62, passed away on March 18, 2015 at Schneck Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born on April 28, 1952 to Novella (Hacker) and T. J. Lewis in Oneida, Kentucky. Donnie attended Jennings County High School and graduated in 1970. On August 16, 1969 in Seymour, he married Patricia Abel. Donnie is retired from Cummins where he was a mechanical engineering associate. In his free time, you could find Donnie enjoying the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and was a farmer. On Sundays, he loved to watch Nascar. He was also a member of Marion Baptist Church. Donnie was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #655, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren most of all.

Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, his children: Jennifer (Billy) Holmes, Jeff (Nicole) Lewis, 5 grandchildren: Jessica, Heather, Kylie, Maddie Grace, and Jacob, 4 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Hunter, Bryson, and Ashton. He is also survived by 2 brothers: David (Susie) Lewis and Doug (Lisa) Lewis.

Preceded in death by his parents, one sister Donna, and one daughter Tammy.

Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 2 pm, with Rev. Jeff Hood officiating.
Burial will take place at Marion Baptist Cemetery immediately following.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 1-5 PM, and Monday from 1 until the time of service.
Memorials may be written to the American Cancer Society.

Donnie was a true definition of a big brother. He was always there for you when you needed him. He would offer advice when you needed it and even sometimes when you didn't think you needed it, but actually really did. I miss him already. He loved his family and I hope to see him on the other side some day. Rest in peace my Brother, tell Mom, Dad, & sis hi for me. While your at it hug that sweet niece. Tell them I'll see them someday.

Donnie was one of a kind and the love for all his family was apparent. Such a staple in the community, and the Lewis family. Just like the loss of his sweet his parents... life on Lewis Lane will never be the same ...knowing you aren't there DONNIE. Had to be some sight when Donna,Novell and T.J. greeted him in heaven. My condolences to Donnie's family. I work with Dave, Doug & Michael at CMEP. As they have displayed their devotion for the Lord that carried their family through so many health problems, one has to know that Donnie was very loved and cared fondly for by Dave, Doug & Michael. My heart and prayers with all of you. May God bless each of you as you prepare to say your goodbyes. One day all of you will join Donnie with your loved ones. Donnie worked on my team as a mechanical journeyman technician, but really provided much needed coaching and mentoring to the younger members of the team. He was a very valuable member of the team and his experience was instrumental in the success of the project. thanks Donnie for all your contributions and my sympathy to his loved ones and friends in Seymour.
