Mrs. Dorothy R. Fleetwood, 83, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Lutheran Community Home. She was born in Seymour to the late Everett and Lura (Gildhouse) Otte.
Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Surprise Christian Church on Saturday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. with Revs. Rick Grant and Nelson Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Acme Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday at Surprise Christian Church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
On May 22, 1955, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dorothy married Louis E. Fleetwood; he survives. Dorothy, along with her husband, owned and operated Fleetwood Grocery for 22 years. She was also Jackson County Co-op Credit Union Manager for 23 years. Dorothy was a member of Surprise Christian Church. She played piano and organ for 41 years and was a long time Sunday school teacher.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Louis Fleetwood; children, Daniel (Betsy) Fleetwood, Michael (Ardith) Fleetwood, Jonathan (Mary) Fleetwood; grandchildren, Aaron (Ellen) Fleetwood, Zach (Ansley) Fleetwood, Nathan Fleetwood, Holden Fleetwood, Lauren Fleetwood, Harrison Fleetwood, Sarah Fleetwood, Jacob Fleetwood; great-grandchildren, Luke and Eliza Fleetwood; brother, Ronald Otte; sisters, Lois Rust, Thelma Greathouse.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Otte.
Memorials may be written to Surprise Christian Church, Hamilton Township Scholarship Fund, Trinity Lutheran High School or Lutheran Community Home, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
