Elmer Gene Sturgill, 71, of Seymour, passed away at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana this Wednesday, December 16, 2020, with family by his side.
Elmer was born in London, Kentucky, the son of the late Tice R. and Gracie H. (Hubbard) Sturgill. He loved worshiping his Lord and Savior at Full Gospel Apostolic Tabernacle in Ewing. Elmer had worked hard most of his life as brick mason, sawmill operator and then for National Veneer of Seymour.
He is survived by his wife Teresa Ann Hanner, whom he married February 13, 2001, his children Tina Sturgill, Rachel Wade, 2 grandsons, 1 brother, Donnie, 3 sisters Shirley, Phyllis and Marty, several nieces, and nephews.
Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Raymond, Andrew, and Larry Wayne, sisters, Vercie, Janie, Hettie, Mildred, and Juanita.
The family appreciates all the prayers and concern for them in this time of loss. Elmer will be missed by many friends in the community, but all services are private for the safety of the family and friends. Cards and notes of condolence will be most welcome.
The family invites friend to come in on Monday from 10 am to 11 am for a walk-through viewing. Private funeral service of 25 family members will follow. Private family burial will follow at Riverview.
In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks are required before admittance to the funeral home as well as social distancing within the building. We kindly ask that there be no physical contact such as hugs or handshakes to protect staff and the family. Attendance is limited to 25 people at any given time.
