Mr. Elwood “Woody” Switzer of Seymour, 90, entered eternal life March 26, 2015. Born on December 30, 1924 to Carl L. and Martha M. (Everitt) Switzer in Defiance, Ohio. Mr. Switzer was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour. He served in the U.S. Navy from January 6, 1943 to April 6, 1946. He was an electrical contractor. He was a former member of the Seymour Rotary Club. Mr. Switzer was a member of The Gideon’s International and he taught Industrial Education at the Seymour High School for 10 years.
On January 17, 1948 he married Winifred L. “Winnie” Switzer in Defiance, Ohio and she passed away on November 29, 1998. He married Dorothy M. Jones on January 11, 2003 and she survives.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy M. Jones Switzer, 1 son Ronald A. Switzer, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one sister Louella M. Bender.
Mr. Switzer is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Winifred Switzer, and one son Robert W. Switzer, and his brother Grover W. Switzer.
Funeral service will be held at Voss Chapel on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 11 am with Rev. David Schrock officiating.
Family and friends may call at Voss Funeral Service Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 9 am until the time of service.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Full Military Graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post # 1925, American Legion Post #89, Disabled American Veterans #47, and Vietnam Veterans #7, all of Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Gideon’s International in lieu of flowers.
