Mr. Ervin Dale (Smitty) Smith, 81, of Seymour, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Schneck Medical Center.
Born February 19, 1933, in Tampico, IN, he was the son of Oliver and Jewell V. (Starr) Smith.
On August 31, 1956 in Las Vegas, NV, he married Shirley Ann Baron who survives.
Smitty proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the Marine Corps. He retired after 15 years of service as a Security Guard at Schneck Medical Center. He loved to fish and enjoyed every moment with his family.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, children: Virginia “Gina” Simpson, Tina Marie (Jim) Luecke, and Robert D. Smith; grandchildren: Christopher Simpson, Justin Simpson, Megan Simpson, Ryan Luecke, Erin Luecke, Sean Luecke, Kristen Luecke, Amberly Smith, Amanda Smith and Ashley Smith; 10 great grandchildren; Brothers: Myron (Berniece) Smith and Stephen (Elsie) Smith; his sister Carol Talieferro and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be at Voss Chapel on Friday May 16, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
A Memorial Service will be held at Voss Chapel on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Bruce Cochran officiating.
Memorials may be written to Wounded Warrior Project.
