Evelyn R Stogdill

August 21, 1935 - July 8, 2020

Mrs. Evelyn R. Stogdill, 85 of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Evelyn was born in Columbus, Indiana on August 21, 1935, the daughter of the late Ray and Rosa Nell (Killion) Manning. On December 24, 1957 in Columbus, Indiana, she married the love of her life Carl T. Stogdill.

Evelyn attended Seymour First Baptist Church. She was always interested in the food industry, getting her start at Harts Cafe in Seymour, which is where she met her husband Carl. She continued to work for 65 years in food service and private club management. If mother was not working, she was always with her family, which she dearly loved.

Evelyn leaves behind five wonderful children Howard (Marilyn) Stogdill, Charlene (Dennis) Grover, Darlene (Greg) Waddell, Karen Stogdill, and Gregg (Lea Dawn) Stogdill as well as 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Ray and Rosa, her husband Carl, and her brother Ray Manning, Jr.

Evelyn’s wishes were for family and friends to remember as she was and entrusted her cremation to Voss & Sons Funeral Service and Crematory.

Memorials honoring Evelyn may be given to the Jackson County Humane Society, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.

Aunt Evelyn, You, Uncle Carl, and all the kids have always held a special place in my heart. Not too many could fill my mom's shoes, but you certainly could. Special memories always take me back to the Christmases when we were really young kids. Those times were the best when our families got together and waited for Santa to arrive. Will Miss You. In our thoughts and prayers and I will cherish the last time we talked at the assistant living home’s pet parade and craft show .

It was my great pleasure to care and get to know Evelyn. I was surprised when I found out I had also cared for her Mother years ago. Evelyn laughed and joked with me. One special lady.

I lost my best friend today. I will miss her always. My heart goes out to her family as I know they will miss her as well.

I am so sad to see this. She told me about a week ago that she was ready to go. What a sweet and funny woman. I loved her and will miss her so.
