Gary D. “Porky” Darlage, 68, of Seymour, entered eternal life on June 20, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born in 1952 to the late Melvin and Leona Oberman Darlage in Seymour. In his early years, he attended grade school at Immanuel Lutheran then went on to graduate from Seymour High School. Gary was highly active in his community being a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, County Commissioner for 20 years, Schneck Medical Center board member for 20 years, Jackson County Fair board member, Blue Hole Advisory Board, and he enjoyed his time as an employee of Rust Construction Company until his start in the family-owned business known as Darlage Logging and Lumber. Gary was also a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by the love of his life, Betty Darlage; children, Eric (Erin) Darlage, Julie (Andy) Rueger, Amy Darlage, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Darlage; grandchildren, Aiden Darlge, Grace Rueger, Brock Rueger and Emma Jo Rueger, Zachary Carpenter and Haley Carpenter, Marley Darlage and one grandchild on the way; brothers, Ronald (Brenda) Darlage, Dennis Darlage, Duane (Charlene) Darlage and Donald Darlage; sisters, Joyce Darlage-Lariviere and Carol (Klay) Caudell.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Craig Darlage; and one grandson, Bryce Rueger.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service from 4-8pm and on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 9-11am.
Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 11am.
Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be written to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bryce Rueger Foundation or Schneck Medical Center.
