Mr. George Melvin (Mel) Ruddick, 76, was called to eternal life with the Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at 11:58 AM at Forest Path in Seymour, IN, surrounded by his family. He was born March 16, 1939, in Cupertino, CA, the son of Walter and Elizabeth Ruddick. He was married to Ann Laverne (Walker) Ruddick for 52 years and she precedes him in death. His parents and younger sister, Norma Jane Johnson, also preceded him in death
He is survived by one sister, Zethel Faye Gorman. He leaves behind his three children, Melvin Allen (Laura) Ruddick, Mark Andrew (Patty) Ruddick and Melody Ann (Randy) Thompson, and five grandchildren, Marc Ruddick, Zach Ruddick, Seth Thompson, Nikki Thompson and TJ Thompson, and two great grandchildren, Teagen and Teeann Thompson.
Melvin loved to travel, having visited all 50 states. He loved to drive his Corvette and Shelby Mustangs around and participated in car shows and parades. He especially enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He served in the National Guard for 1 year after high school. He retired from Seymour Tubing in 2009 and worked at Panasote for 30 years prior to that.
Funeral service will be at Voss Chapel on Monday, April 27, 2015, at 2:30 PM. Burial will follow at Cana Cemetery east of Uniontown, with a Voss Dove release.
Friends may call on Sunday, April 26, 2015, from 1:00 – 5:00 PM and from 1:30 until the time of the service on Monday.
