Mr. Grant Alan Reedy, 20, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at IU Methodist Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Seymour on July 16, 1997, the son of Gregory Alan and Alicia Anne (Sexton) Reedy.
Funeral services will be held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Saturday, May 5 at 12 noon with Rev. Dr. Jeremy Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday from 2-8 pm and on Saturday from 10 am until time of service.
Grant was a member of First Baptist Church in Seymour. He was an academic honors graduate of Brownstown Central High School, class of 2016. He was a 4 year member of the BCHS boy’s basketball team as well as 1 year member of varsity football team, track team and baseball team. He also served as manager of the girl’s volleyball team for a year. He was a 10 year member of 4H Club.
Grant was a member of National Honor Society. He was attending University of Indianapolis where he was studying Exercise Science. His goal was to pursue a career in athletic training.
Grant loved The Ohio State University (thanks to his mother), being the life of the party and spending time with family, friends and his beloved dog Lola. Grant’s smile was contagious, his humor outrageous and his love was beyond measure. Due to his giving nature, Grant had chosen to be an organ donor. Through this selfless act, his spirit will live on.
He is survived by his parents; maternal grandmother, Marie Sexton; aunts and uncles, Chris & Whitney (Sexton) Allman, Bart & Heather (Sexton) Makowsky, Kris & Courtney (Sexton) Kleber, Jeff & Heather Reedy, Brian & Sara Reedy, Joe Reedy, Eric & Denise Reedy and Matt Reedy; cousins, Andrew (Kristen) Reedy, Patrick Reedy, Caleb Reedy, Bethany Reedy, Nathaniel Makowsky, Laine Reedy, Elizabeth Reedy, Marissa Reedy, Jared Reedy, R. J. Kleber, Brett Kleber, Lauren Reedy, Maria Makowsky, Jacob Reedy, Spanky Kleber, Jack Reedy, Ava Reedy and Matthew Reedy.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John & Ruth Reedy; and maternal grandfather, Mark Sexton.
The family asks that any expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations in memory of Grant to the Seymour First Baptist Church Youth Missions, Brownstown Central High School Athletics Fund, or Indiana Donor Network.
