Mr. Howard “Bud” Mears, 80 of Seymour passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in Columbus Regional Hospital.
Bud was born the son of the late Howard Reber Mears, Jr and Martha Dix Mears.
He was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church of Seymour and the Seymour Elks Lodge #462 where he served as Exalted Ruler in 1974.
He was an entrepreneur and enjoyed the challenges to be a successful business and family man. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren. He was active in his children’s lives by volunteering in many of their activies such as coaching, teaching Sunday School and participating in scout troops. He also enjoyed attending as many of his grandchildren’s events as he could. He was honored as an Eagle Scout aa well as serving in the United States Army. He graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor degree in Forestry Science.
On July 9, 1997 he married Ida Fisher Harding Mears who lives in Arizona.
Bud leaves behind his wife Ida, children; Cindy (Drew) Noye, Sharon Townsend, Gary (Loli) Mears and Kathy (Dwayne) Hohenstreiter, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and several friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife and mother of his children Janice “Jan” Roberts Mears, second wife Carol Diener Mears, and sister Barbara “Marnel” Cox.
Family and friends may visit at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday after 10:00 am until time of service. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., Voss & Sons Funeral Service, with Rev. Steve Greene, officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post 89, American Legion Post 1925, DAV, Korean and Vietnam Veterans all of Seymour at Riverview.
