Ishmael “Ish” Baker, 91, of Seymour, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Seymour Crossing. She was born in Martin County on October 27, 1929, the daughter of the late Barney Miller and Roxy (King) Miller. On December 24, 1946, Ish married the love of her life, Edgar Baker, Sr at the parsonage of the Nazarene Church in Crothersville; he preceded her in death on December 9, 2019.

Mrs. Baker was an active member of The Point (First Church of the Nazarene). She taught Sunday school for 36 years and rode on the VBS bus for 10 years. She graduated from Heron High School as valedictorian of her class.

She is survived by her sons, Andy Baker, Douglas “Doug” Baker, Sr., Edgar “Butch” Baker, Jr.; daughter, Candice “Candy” Baker Sons; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert “Bob” Miller and sister, Sue (Beasley) Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; infant son; sister, Alta Geraldine “Jerry” Bex; and brothers, Raymond Miller, Lester Miller, Orville Miller, Norman “Duke” Miller and Marvin “Pete” Miller.

Funeral services for Mrs. Baker will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Saturday, November 7 at 10:00 am with Rev. Steve Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Spring Cemetery. Masks are respectfully required before entering and anytime within the building of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
