Mr. J. Robert Leahy, 100, of Seymour, passed away on September 5, 2021, at Hamilton Pointe in Newburgh, Indiana.

He was born in St. Albans, Vermont in 1921, son of the late William and Agnes (Needham) Leahy.

Mr. Leahy graduated from St. Michaels College in Colchester, Vermont.
He enlisted into the Air Force during WWII and served both as an enlisted man and a Commissioned Officer from 1942-1946. Mr. Leahy spent 34 years in the beverage business and retired from the G. Heileman Brewing Company in 1984. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and the American Legion.

Mr. Leahy was the husband of Mary Louise (Beatty) Leahy. They were married at Kelly Field on May 12, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas, the same day he became a Second Lieutenant.

They were blessed with five children, Patricia (Dan) Beimesche, Kathryn (Mike) Wayne, Michael Leahy, Thomas (Peggy) Leahy and David (Beth) Leahy; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul Leahy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church from 11:30-12:30.

Funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, at St. Ambrose Church at 12:30.

Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorials may be written to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Voss & Sons Funeral Service in Seymour.

Dear Katie and Mike, we were so sorry to learn of your dad's passing. What a guy and father you guys had. He was always so friendly and you were lucky to have had him for a father. Although we were neighbors, we remember him most by seeing you both on walks along the river. Bob, we will miss seeing you, God Bless You, your Newburgh neighbors, Dave and Sally Lutz

So sorry and saddened to hear about Mr. Bob. He was such a fantastic man who came with a great family. When we talked it was as if I had known him forever. I will miss that and him. Many prayers for his family as we have all lost a treasure. I am blessed to have known you Mr. Bob!

Bob & Mary were the sweetest couple - I met them at the bank and for many years they were like seeing your grandparents. Just a joy and a sassiness between the two of them. I remember when they were moving out of town (Seymour) they came by just to tell me & we shared a hug. Praying for your comfort at this time.

Bob was a delightful man. I remember him with a smile on his face and never far away from his dear wife, Mary. Prayers for Bob and the family.
