Jack “Jackie” G. Morris, 79, of Seymour passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on December 27, 1943, in Seymour, the son of Nettie Morris. On December 19, 1980, Jack married Mary Jo Altemeyer in Seymour and she survives.
In addition to his wife Mary Jo, Jack is survived by two children, Jack W. Morris of Indianapolis, IN and Deborah Morris of Sarasota, FL; six grandchildren, Samantha Barnes, Jordan Morris, Josiah Morris, Tyler Morris, and Austin Morris; two great grandchildren; one brother, Rick Pennybaker of Columbus, IN; one sister, Rita Perry of North Vernon, IN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister, Hilda Bolden.
Jack worked as a carpenter with Force Construction in Columbus, IN until retirement. He was a member of the Jonesville Bass Club, Indiana Carpenters Union, and Cornerstone Community Church in Seymour. In his free time Jack enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife Mary Jo as well as being with his beloved goldendoodle Sport. He could be found throughout Seymour every morning at one of the local restaurants, having breakfast with his friends. He had a generous heart and always gave back to people in need. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Voss and Sons Funeral Home in Seymour with Pastor Johnnie Spivey officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Voss and Sons Funeral Home.
