Mr. Jackie “Jack” Ray Fields, 75, of Paris Crossing, Indiana, was taken into the Lord’s Heavenly Kingdom, early Saturday morning March 28, 2015.
Jack was born June 20, 1939 at Surprise, Indiana; the son of the late Evan and Ora (Grider) Fields. Jack married the former Lois Gail Mather on July 14, 1978 in Seymour.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his children: Michael (Cathy) Fields, Debra (Doug) Sweeney, Cherrie Collins, Kimberly Kyer, Rick Zink, J.D. Fields (Joey King), and Julia (Michael) Richey; a brother-in-law, Bob Downing; two sisters-in-law: Midge Fields and Cheryl Fields; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two grandchildren: April Collins and Christopher Collins; three brothers: Ervin Fields, Frank Fields, and Delbert Fields; two sisters: Helen Maxine Carpenter and Ruby Downing.
Jack was employed as a truck driver and had dutifully served his country in the United States Army.
Jack was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle in Seymour, where he had previously served on the church board. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #89 in Seymour.
Jack loved to share the Good News of Jesus with others; with his wife, he had a nursing home ministry where they both would sing and entertain the residents.
In his pastime, Jack could be found playing horseshoes or working in his large garden. Jack enjoyed following NASCAR; he was especially fond of Jeff Gordon. Jack also enjoyed watching basketball and football. Jack most especially loved the time he spent with his wife and family. Jack will also be missed by his beloved dog, “Winston”.
Funeral service for Jack will be in the Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle on Tuesday evening, March 31, 2015 at 7:00 PM with Brother Larry Arrowood, Brother Aaron Arrowood, Brother Scott Erwin and his son-in-law Doug Sweeney officiating. Burial with a graveside service will be in the Riverview Cemetery Seymour at 11:00 AM Wednesday April 1, 2015. Full military graveside rites will also be conducted by the VFW Post #1925, American Legion Post #89, Disabled American Veterans #47 and Vietnam Veterans #7 all of Seymour. There will also be a Voss Dove Release.
Family and friends may call Tuesday March 31, 2015 from 3:00-7:00 PM in the Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle.
Memorial may be given to the Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle and the Seymour Christian Academy both of Seymour.
