Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” (Fletcher) Allen, 88, of Seymour, IN, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Seymour Crossing.
She was born on January 27, 1930 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to the late Jack Bowen Fletcher and Bertha (Hays) Fletcher, who has preceded her in death.
On December 17, 1950, she married Brooks Allen in Abilene Texas at the University Baptist Church, whom passed away May 31, 2009 in Seymour.
Jackie graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas with a Masters Degree in Education. She was a member of the University Cowboy Band where she was honored to be chosen to ride one of the white horses. She retired from teaching after many years of service with the Natchez School Systems. She was a member of the Who’s Who in American College and Universities, Cowgirls Garden Club and Natchez Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Angela (George) Scheirmann, Tracy (Shannon) Allen, and Leslie Abbott; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother John Robin Fletcher and sister Frances Hodges
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, February 15, at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church (2100 Highway 150, Floyd Knobs, Indiana) from 5pm to 8 pm.
Burial will be on Friday, February 16, 2018, 2:30 pm, at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana with Rev. Tony Alstott officiating
