I was very lucky to get to know Jan Behrens when she lived in Winter Haven , FL. I really enjoyed working with her in the LWML and becoming friends. I remember her and Dr. Behrens were invited to attend my daughters wedding and we placed people at tables we thought would enjoy the same topics, not realizing they we were actually sitting them at a table with one of Dr. Behrens past students. They said they had a wonderful time catching up on the years. She instilled a special love for Christ in my heart and helped show me a love for the LWML. My love and prayers go out to you in this time of sorrow.

"Miss Wessel" was my fourth grade teacher at Bethany, Long Beach, CA when President Kennedy was assassinated. She was such a comfort to us at that difficult time. She was then a professor of mine at Concordia, Seward many years later. She was a wonderful Christian woman and a blessing to many! Peace and joy in her victory to Dr. Behrens and family. In Him, Susan Lee Von Ahsen

I was blessed to have been taught by Mrs. Behrens for 3 straight years (2nd-4th grades) at Grace Lutheran. She was a wonderful teacher who encouraged learning and shared her passion with her students. The world has lost such a special person, but I’m thankful she’s at home with Jesus. Dr. Behrens and family, I send you my deepest condolences and best wishes that the many cherished memories you have with her will give you great comfort. May God give you peace and assurance during these difficult times. Much love!

Floyd and Family, I am so sorry to hear about Jan's passing. She was such an inspiration to me in the years we taught 3rd grade together at Grace, Winter Haven. What an honor it was to teach with her as my "partner in crime." We were always looking for new and creative activities and ways to help the students learn. I will never forget the candy gram fundraiser we started (I can hear her laughing about it now). We were always running out of chocolate candy. My prayers are with you all. May God's peace and comfort surround you in the days ahead. Jan has found her resting place in Jesus and His loving arms. She has found true happiness. God's peace and blessings, Beth Walters

Pastor Philip Bloch left a message on May 15, 2020:
Our deepest condolences to Floyd, Joel & Heather, and other members of the family. We keep you in our prayers and look forward to the day when we will be with Jan again. As my college instructor and member of our congregation in Seymour I offer this prayer in her memory: Almighty God, eternal fountain of all wisdom, it has pleased You to call to her heavenly home the soul of this teacher of the lambs of Your flock. We thank You for having made Jan Your child in baptism and for having given her the grace to devote her life and talents to the training and instruction of the young. We praise You for having blessed her efforts to plant the precious Seed of Your Word in the hearts of children and youth and for her example of humility, patience, and unselfish Christian love. Look with compassion on the family and friends who grieve her death and sustain them with the comfort of Your Gospel. Be for them a very present Help in trouble. Direct our thoughts heavenward that we may ever seek the one thing needful, the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Who conquered death so that we may live forever with You. In His Name. Amen. In Christian love, Pastor Philip and Martha Bloch
