Mrs. Jean VanEssen, 82, Seymour, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at her home.
Born February 17, 1934, in Greenup, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Edith Marie (Robertson) Brown.
On July 5, 1959, in Sumner County, Tennessee, she married Rudalph H. VanEssen who preceded her in death October 12, 2011.
Mrs. VanEssen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. She worked at the Seymour Country Club as the head cook for 20 years. She was also the assistant manager of Jerry’s Restaurant for 15 years. Mrs. VanEssen completed her undergraduate work at the Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, California, and worked at the Queen of Angels Hospital for 5 years.
Jean is survived by her son, Keith VanEssen, brothers: David (Norma) Brown, Donald Brown, and Tom Brown, sister, Pauline Farley, several nieces and nephews, and Kevin and Valerie Smith and Samuel and Benjamin Smith who were like family to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Scott Anthony VanEssen, seven brothers, and two sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held at Voss Chapel on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
There will be a gathering for friends and family at Voss Chapel on Wednesday after 12:00 pm until time of service.
Memorials may be written to Trinity Lutheran High School, Lutheran Community Home, or Donor’s Choice.
