Mr. John David Timbers, Sr., 90, of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2018, at his home. He was born on November 3, 1927 to the late Elsie (Massman) Timbers.
Funeral services will be held at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 4 at 1 pm with Rev. Brien Stout officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday from 5-7 pm and on Wednesday from 12 noon until time of service. A Masonic Service will take place at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday at 7 pm.
Mr. Timbers was retired from both the Indiana State Police and State Highway Department. He was a private pilot for over 60 years. He was awarded the Wright Brothers 50 year pilot award from FAA. He was a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association since 1948, Experimental Aircraft Association since 1968, Vintage Aircraft Association since 1977, and Antique Aircraft Association. He joined the Masons in 1956 and was a 32 degree Mason. He was a Kiwanis Club member since 1972 and had served as club president from 1974-1975.
He is survived by his children, John David Timbers, Ralph Douglas Timbers Perry, Shari Ann McGrew and Pamela Jane Elswick; and two grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother; brother, Archibald “Sonny” Timbers; and aunts, Clara L. Massman, Helen E. Hombroek and Edna Massman.

I got to know Dave when he came and looked at my Crosley cars. He worked at the Crosley dealership here in Seymour back in the day. He was always a welcome sight at the car shows when he came to visit.My grandson and I are restoring a Crosley Hot Shot like Dave had years ago and hoped to take it to him to see when done.
