Mr. John E. Oathout, 84, of Brownstown, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus with his loving family by his side. He was born in Jackson County to the late Roland and Faye (Hamilton) Oathout.
Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday, June 14 at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday from 4-8 pm and Friday from 9:30 am until time of service.
He was a graduate of Cortland High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He retired as a Supervisor from Reliance Electric after many years of service. John enjoyed fishing and visiting flea markets but loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John is survived by his children, Cynthia (Floyd) Smith, Sandra (Marty) Vogel and Jan (David) Bozman; grandchildren, Don, Jon, Matthew, David, Justin, Joseph, Allison and Luke; 13 great-grandchildren; fiance, Shannon Lamping; sister, Barbara Ferry; loyal dog, Buster; and mother of his children, Kay Oathout.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack Oathout, Robert Oathout and Roger Oathout; and sisters, Cathleen Borgman and Maxine Hulley.
