John Gerald Hinton

John Gerald Hinton, 74, of Crothersville, passed away on Saturday, September 6th, 2014 at his residence.

Born August 6, 1941, in Seymour, he was the son of the late Charles and Lillie Collier Hinton.

On March 16, 1963 in Brownstown, he married Mary Alice McCasland, who survives.

John was retired from Silgan. He was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the US Army.

He was a member of the Bethany Community Baptist Church. John was a former member of the V F W Post 1925 until becoming ill. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and cars. His special joy was his grandchildren.

Mr. Hinton is survived by his wife, daughter Sue Ann (Kevin) Igo and son John C. (Karen Soladine) Hinton and five grandchildren: Hayden Hinton, Hillary (Gavin) Gay, Sean Igo, Alexander Igo, Maura Igo. One great grandchild: Braelyn Gay.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers and five sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 6:00pm at Voss Chapel, conducted by Pastor John Moore.

Family and friends may call at the Voss Chapel Tuesday from 4:00pm until time of service.
