Juanita Carol James Bobb, 85 of Seymour, IN, passed away on February 18, 2022, at Covered Bridge Health Campus. She was born in 1936 to the late William C. and Alma Johnson Simmons and lived in Jennings and Jackson County her whole life.
Carol graduated from the St. Vincent Indianapolis School of Nursing in 1957 and worked at Schneck Medical Center in the Operating Room for 42 years. She married Dorrell L. James at Commiskey Baptist Church December 8, 1957, and he preceded her in death in 1998.
She is survived by her children; Julie L. (Roger) Hapka, Janet James Gessling; 4 grandchildren Thomas, Eric, Holly Hapka, and Kate Gessling; brothers, James W. (Linda) Simmons; sisters Mary A. Painter and Martha J. (David) Ray; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful friend, Ruby Niccum of 64 years.
May 27, 2000, she married Dr. Kenneth Bobb in Columbus and he preceded her in death in 2021.
Also surviving are children, Michael L. (Pam) Bobb, Steve J. (Teri) Bobb, and Deborah (Paul) Schleter; grandchildren Virginia Dorell, Sarah Knapp, Rachel Knapp, Clint C. (Kelly Collins) Bobb, and Jessie J. Bobb; great grandchildren Madison Bobb, Malcolm and Leo Dorell, Elaine and Amara Ellis, Collin Bobb.
Carol was a member of Cornerstone Community Church and attended Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was also a member of: Our Friends in Christ Fellowship Group, Friends and Neighbors Home-Ec Club, Schneck Hospital Retirees Luncheon Club, and volunteered at Jackson County Community Provisions Food Pantry. She loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, gardening, and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters-in-law; Ralph H (Pat) Simmons, Roger A. (Sharon) Simmons.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, from 4-8 pm at Voss and Sons Funeral Service and on Wednesday February 23, 2022, from 10 am to 11 am.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 23, 2022, at 11 am at Voss and Sons Funeral Service with Pastor Johnnie Spivey. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials may be written to Cornerstone Community Church, Schneck Medical Center Foundation-Cancer Center, or the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Voss and Sons Funeral Service.
