Katherine “Kathy” J. Scroggins

July 6, 1959 - June 20, 2015

Mrs. Katherine J. “Kathy” Scroggins, 55, of Commiskey passed away on June 20, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Kathy was born in Seymour on July 6, 1959 to Robert and Irene (Royalty) Engle. She married Richard “Dick” Scroggins on September 3, 1982 at First Marion Baptist Church.
Kathy received her bachelor degree from Indiana University in nursing and had worked at Schneck Medical Center and KDH Home Health. After working for others, she and her family, wanted to reach out to others and help those in need of care at home. So they started their own ministry, Scroggins Nursing and Home Health Services.
Kathy was a very caring, loving person who always put others first. She would be the one who would see a need and reach out to others, without being recognized for her generosity.
She will be remembered as a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend to so many. She loved her dad and mom and had unconditional love for all. She was one that always had an extended hand for others, as for her last day she had volunteered to transport her great nephew and niece to see her niece Trista in the hospital, when they were involved in an auto accident on 65. She loved her church and her church family.
She is survived by her parents, husband, children, Richanda (Craig) Hahn, Blake Scroggins, Stacie (Gary) Mason, Bryannah Reynolds and Brian Scroggins, grandchildren, Jonathon Kelly, Reece Hahn, Bryce Scroggins, Arianna Scroggins, Molly Mason, Autumn Mason, and Cheyenne Mason.
Her brother Bobby (Missy) Engle, a very special friend Susan East, several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters-in-laws .
She is preceded in death by a son, Clint Scroggins and a sister in law, Dora Scroggins and great nephew Keghan McCrory Engle and great niece Addyson Engle.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 26th at Voss Chapel from 4 to 8 PM, and at First Marion Baptist Church from 11 AM until the time of the service on Saturday.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday at First Marion Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jeff Hood officiating.
Burial will follow the service on Saturday at the First Marion Baptist Church.
Family asks that memorials be made out to the athletic department of Jennings County High School.

I will never forget you and neither will any of my family members like my 3 year old little sister Katherine Janelle Scroggins my mom said that we named her after you because she never met you. To Dickey, We all are so truly sorry for your loss. Kathy was a one in a million kind of person. She spent her days touching others lives as she definitely did ours. There will never be a way to adequately thank the two of you for all that you have done over the years for our family. And there will never be a day that she isn't missed. Kathy was my former co-worker and supervisor, I will miss her forever, she was always very nice to me.

I met Kathy recently during a job interview. Prior to meeting her I spoke with her a few times on the phone. It was as if I'd always known her, as she was so friendly and personable. Her passing will affect many. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, coworkers and clients. Prayers for God's comfort and peace that passes understanding. I'm so sorry but I'm confident she is walking with God, and with those 2 precious children and her son.

Angie and I would like to send our love and sympathy to our family in Indiana. We we're very thankful to have Kathy, Dickie, Stacie, Richanda, and Bry attend our wedding reception this past May. When Angie and I came back from Indiana I messaged Kathy for her and Dickie's address and she responded and ended the message with "Luv u guys." We want to tell Uncle Dickie, Stacie, Richanda, and Blake that you all are in our prayers and that we "Luv u guys" very much.
