Mr. Larry D. Carpenter (Skip) 79 of Seymour passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 in Columbus at the Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Larry was born in Seymour, Indiana on July 4, 1939 the son of the late Lawrence and Beatrice (Gerdom) Carpenter.

Larry graduated from Shields High School class of 1958. He entered the United State Navy and served his country from 1958 to 1964. He was a Machinist Mate and served on the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain.
He was of Baptist Faith and retired from Cummins after 26 years of Service.

On September 4, 1960, he married Judy Lucas at Peter’s Switch Church of the Nazarene.

Skip enjoyed watching his great grandchildren play sports. He enjoyed fishing with his buddy Connie Calmer at Put in Bay and Lake Erie.

Larry will be missed by his wife of 58 years Judy, children: Larry (Brenda) Carpenter, Lori (Mark Bledsoe) Carpenter, grandchildren: John Schrader, Lukas (Heather) Carpenter, Rachel (Ambraya) Schrader, Logan (Kori) Carpenter, Amber Schrader, Great Grandchildren: Evan, Brody, Cooper, Georgialynn and Amileigh Schrader, sisters: Judy Rigsbee and LaDonna Myers-West.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Brothers: Wallace (Wally) Carpenter and Robert Carpenter, father and mother in law: Julius (Jude) and Gladys Lucas.

Family and friends may visit at Voss and Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday, February 12 from 4 to 8 p.m and Wednesday after 9 am until time of service.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, with Reverend Jim Hudson, officiating.

Full military honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 89, American Legion Post 1925, DAV, Korean and Vietnam Veterans all of Seymour.

Family asks that memorials be written to the Edinburgh Church of the Nazarene or Boys and Girls Club of Seymour.
