Larry E. Baker

July 20, 1942 - November 21, 2016

Mr. Larry E. Baker, 74 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away at 12:35 am Monday, November 21, 2016, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born July 20, 1942, in Bedford, Indiana, the son of John F. and Vera (Rainey) Baker.

He married Bonnie Wooten O’Neal on June 7, 2003, and she survives.

Larry was a member of Surprise Christian Church. He retired from Jiffy Lube after many years of service as a District Manager. He was also the former owner of Baker’s IGA in Seymour and Bedford. He loved taking golfing trips with the guys, NASCAR and tinkering around the house and the yard. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his dogs. He was a member of Seymour Lodge# 146, Free & Accepted Masons and the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, children, Devin Baker and Noelle (Todd) DeHaven; step-children, Brandon O’Neal and Dustin (Makenzie) O’Neal; granddaughters, Preston and Paxton DeHaven; step-granddaughter, Chelsie Weade; two brothers, John (Marsha) Baker and Terry (Frances) Baker; a nephew, Michael Baker; mother-in-law, Curtis Wooten and father-in-law, Barlow Wooten.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Mark Baker.

Funeral service will be held at Voss Chapel on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm and Wednesday after 12:00 pm until time of service.

I had the pleasure of working with Larry for over 10 years. I have thought about him over the years since his retirement, followed him on FB, and even more recently with his health issues. It is impossible for me to think of a time Larry did not have a smile, he would naturally make you feel better in his presence. I will truly miss him, especially at the company Award's Banquets when I could shake his hand and give a hug. He will live on forever in our hearts and never be forgotten by his Jiffy Lube family.
