Michael Jackson MD left a message on February 13, 2021:
I met Larry in the 1960’s. I used to watch him play the drums when I was learning the drums myself. He chronicled the history of music as it developed in this area over decades. This information would largely have been lost or inaccurately recalled if it had not been for Larry’s efforts. What he did was the work of a person passionate about music. I was always amazed when I looked at the walls inside of This Old Guitar. It brought back so many memories of growing up listening to all these bands and individuals. I loved Larry and I will miss him. Michael Jackson

I meet Larry when he was 14 years old. Saw him marry Sandy and start his family. Our families spent a lot of time together going to many many many softball games, cookouts, and music on the weekends. We even managed a few trips to the Smokey Mountains and Florida. Larry truly loved his family. I hope all their good memories of him help them through this difficult time. Know that you’re in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs for his entire family.
Michael Jackson MD left a message on February 12, 2021:
Michael Jackson Larry was a friend of mine since the 1960's. He was one of the earliest drummers playing in town that I used to watch while figuring out the drums myself. He chronicled the musical history of the area in what was to me something done with obvious love and commitment. This musical history would have been largely lost if it had not been for Larry. I was amazed everytime I visited him in his store looking in the walls, seeing what he had done. I am still amazed by that effort. I loved him and I will miss him.
