The wonderful LeRoy Everett Davis I went home to be with The Lord around 4pm on Saturday August 17, 2024 with family members close by. LeRoy was born on April 27, 1938 in Seymour, Indiana to the late Leonard & Rosa (Nichalson) Davis. A few years later, he was blessed with a beautiful little sister Loretta E. Davis Riehl.
As a teenager, LeRoy attended Shield’s High School and purchased his first Harley Davidson at the age of 15. He was very intrigued with how things worked and was often found taking things apart to curb his curiosity! Who knew then that this was hands-on practice for his lifetime career as an auto body repairman. After years of perfecting his skills by working for Bob Rigsby and Don Morris, he became the owner of Davis Body Shop and Wrecker Service for over 40 years. On June 1, 1958, he married the love of his life, spunky little Karen Lavonne Speer. They created seven unique children: Edie (Dale) Thompson, LeRoy (Donna) Davis II, Lisa Davis, Betsy (Scott) Ackeret, Melissa (Timothy) Shunney, Trina ‘Bean’ Willard, and Sarah (Kyle) Fisher. He was a proud grandpa to 16 grandkids, 26 great grands, & two great great grands!! Needless to say his house was pleasantly packed for the holidays & monthly family get-togethers.
LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents listed above; his stepmother, Marie Davis; a brother, Harvey; and stepsisters Leah Nichols and Phyllis Pavey.
Funeral services for LeRoy will be held Saturday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. at Voss and Sons Funeral Home, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. Brother Larry Dalton and Brother Claude Fouts of Seymour Community Church will officiate. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Friday, August 23 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. LeRoy will be laid to rest at Leesville Cemetery immediately following the service.
