Mr. Manuel Valverde, 80 of Seymour passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Seymour.
Manuel was born in Stockton Ca., on January 14, 1934 the son of the late Ralph and Guadalupe (Labrado) Valverde.
He graduated from high school and entered the United States Army, where he served his country during the Korean War. He then attended two years of College and received an Associate degree.
On November 15, 1958 he married Susan Anne Green in St. George’s Catholic Church in Stockton, Ca.
Mr. Valverde was a self employed contractor for over 40 years with Rose Acres Farms, in Jackson County.
He really enjoyed spending time in his work shop, working in his yard with his Day Lillie’s and his family.
He was always one to challenge his mind and his ability to be creative, with this he had several inventions. Two of these inventions were patent and sold as, the peace sign ashtray and the Twiggy Fishing Pole, still being produced and sold today.
Mr. Valverde was a great family man and will be greatly missed by his wife, children, Manuel E. Valverde, Elaine (Tim) Pardieck, Carla (Reid) Westphal, and Dianna “Dee”(Jim) Camp, grandchildren Ryan, Cory, and Clay Pardieck, Madison and Alex Westphal, Sam, Paige, and Jack Camp, sister Sally (Louis Villalovoz, several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Chalo, Moses and Ralph Valverde, sisters Helen Munoz, Mary Reyas Romero, Eva Guerrero, Mary Lou Navone and Minnie Miranda.
Funeral mass will be April 9th, Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Dan Staublin officiating, assisted by Deacon Mike East.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with a flag presentation by the V.F.W. and a Voss dove release.
Friends and family may call at Voss Chapel on April 8th, Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday after 9 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Rosary on Tuesday at 3:30 PM at Voss Chapel.
Family asks that all memorials be given through the Voss Funeral Service to the St. Ambrose Catholic Church or Hospice of Schneck Medical Center.
