Marilyn Carol Currao 80, of Seymour, IN formerly of Beaver, PA fell asleep in Jesus surrounded by her children on November 26, 2021, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.
She was born in Rome, New York in 1941 to the late Albert Marshall Denison and Irene Mabel Smith Denison.
In 1960 she married the love of her life Peter L. Currao who preceded her in death in 2015. Marilyn was member of Mt Olive Lutheran Church and was a loving homemaker.
Marilyn was full of love and laughter. A true servant to others because she had the joy of the Lord in her heart. Her life was lived as a thank you note to God for His grace and mercy. Trusting in His Word, Marilyn confessed she was a sinner deserving only eternal death, yet she knew God had sent His Son to live a perfect life for her. Jesus suffered and died to pay the punishment for her sins, and He rose from the dead in victory over sin, death, and the devil. Through her baptism on January 2, 1942, Marilyn was claimed by God as His very own and she received forgiveness, new life, and salvation. Throughout her life she regularly partook of the body and blood of Christ in the Lord’s Supper receiving forgiveness and strengthening of faith. Marilyn lived life with the sure and certain hope of eternal life with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

In thankful response to God’s grace in Christ, Marilyn was very generous with her time, talents, and treasures. She was a faithful witness to Christ in word and deed as she constantly sang hymns, loved devotions in God’s Word, and often confessed her faith in Christ with others.

Marilyn was confirmed in the faith on April 11,1954. The Bible verse read over her head that day was Luke 10:42. Marilyn truly lived out her confirmation verse as she kept Jesus first in her life. Instead of being anxious and troubled, Marilyn often did the one thing necessary which was to listen to Jesus’ Word above everything else.

We are thankful today for our faithful mother. We are comforted in Christ because she made sure to raise her family to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

What follows are her own words from her last will and testament…
“I commit myself to God’s care, secure in His love for me and trusting in the salvation purchased for me through Christ’s suffering and death. I leave those who survive me in the comfort of knowing that I have died in this faith and have now joined my Lord in eternal glory. I commend my loved ones to the protecting arms of God, knowing that He will continue to provide for them despite my absence; and I encourage them to place their faith and trust in Him alone.”

Marilyn was blessed with three children; Rev. Andrew (Donna) Currao, Jeffrey (Diane) Currao, and Amy (Dr. John) Hinz, eight grandchildren; Hannah (Clayton) Currao Klosterman, Emily (Nick) Nehrt, Abby Currao, Johnny Hinz Jr. Carolyn Hinz, Dusty Hinz, and Sonya Hinz, four great grandchildren; Evelyn Nehrt, Amos Klosterman, Layla Nehrt, and Miles Klosterman, two brothers; Danny Denison and Richard Denison. And many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandchild Nikita Hinz, brothers; Marshall Denison Jack Denison, Marion Robinson, Marilla Vanderhoof, Kenny Denison, and sister Mary Denison.
Visitation for Marilyn will be held at Voss and Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday November 30, 2021, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Visitation and services are scheduled for Tuesday December 7, 2021 from 9 am to 11 am with service at 11 am at Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Falls, PA. Internment will take place at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Washington, Pennsylvania.
Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church Youth in Fredericksburg, VA, Redeemer Lutheran Church Building Fund in Seymour, IN, Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Falls PA, and First Care Pregnancy Center in West Palm Beach FL in care of Voss and Sons Funeral Service.
