Mark R. Padgett

September 21, 1957 - May 21, 2014

Rev. Mark R. Padgett, 56, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Our Hospice of Columbus Inpatient Facility, Columbus, IN.

Born September 21, 1957, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Clarence David Padgett and Betty (Schraeder) Hughes.

On November 16, 2011, in Seymour, he married Rose M. (Abner) Atwood who survives.

Rev. Padgett loved the Lord and his calling led him into the ministry. He loved helping people and was a Christian counselor. His many interests included music and he especially enjoyed Gospel and Country. He also loved poetry.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children Cortney Padgett, Mark Padgett, Amanda Padgett, Adam Atwood, and Ashley (Clifton) Hutchinson; brother Ronald (Sandra) Padgett, Jeffrey (Amy) Hughes, Kevin Hughes; sisters Janet Anderson, Brenda Jacobson (Bob Smith); grandchildren Kyra, Devon, Dylan, Kaylee, Sam, Clarissa, and Sydney, several nieces and nephews and his beloved cats Dixie and Joshua.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Melissa Lynn Padgett and sister Anne Frederick.

Funeral services will be held at Voss Chapel on Sunday, May 25, at 2:30 PM with Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating.

Burial will take place at CanaCemetery with a Voss Dove release.

Family and friends may call at Voss Chapel on Saturday, from 4:00-8:00 PM and on Sunday from 1:30 PM until time of service.

Memorials may be written to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Open Door Mission, of Rochester, New York.
