Mary A. Dominik

September 6, 1922 - June 15, 2020

Mary (Pasyk) Dominik. Great-grandmother, grandmother, mother-in-law, God-mother, mother, daughter-in-law, wife, aunt, sister-in-law, sister, daughter. Family was her work. Everyone she met was invited into her family. She did her work well.
Church was also her work. Mass was not just a Sunday thing. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and was very active in Legion of Mary. The rosary was also important to her. She was one of Our Lady’s Rosary Makers, and was making rosaries up until a few months ago. Rosaries she made for Our Lady’s Rosary Makers are prayed all over the world.
Mrs. Mary A. Dominik, 97, of Seymour, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020 at Covered Bridge Health Campus. She was born in Hegwish, Illinois to the late Joseph and Zophia (Giebutowska) Pasyk.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in the Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, Seymour, by The Rev. Father Dan Staublin with Deacon Mike East assisting; private family burial will follow at Saint Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
On June 21, 1947, in Hammond, Indiana, Mary married Joseph F. Dominik, he preceded her in death December 13, 2014.
Mary is survived by her children, Thomas (Susan) Dominik, Joseph (Alexandra) Dominik, Lygia (James) Ford, Claudia Dominik, Martin Dominik, Mary Ellen Emch; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Irene (Edward) Jakubowicz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Stanley Pasyk, and Ted Pasyk; sisters, Helen Jamrose and Bernice Michnal; and son-in-law, Timothy Emch.
Memorials may be written to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or Southern Care Hospice, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.

What a wonderful lady, she was a mom and grandma to everyone that she met! She was in a group at St. Ambrose that always prayed the rosary before or after mass. I am saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. I am so glad to have met her and spent time with her. She always had a smile on her face and was genuinely happy to see you. I have one of her beautiful rosaries in my home. The family is in my thoughts and prayers!

I will remember always this family growing up at St. Ambrose. When i was 45 and pregnant with my 4th daughter and had just lost my husband..i was greaving one morn. And asked God to give me a sign He was there for me during these rough times. A knock came at the door and there stood Mary handing me a rosary. As i fell apart in her arms and we prayed. I knew my guardian angel had came and Gid dried my tears. She will always hold a special place in my heart. So very sorry to all of you. She was a angel.

Mrs. Dominick welcomed me into her family when I first came to Seymour. She and Mr. Dominik were my parents away from home. Great family, great values. My life has been blessed by knowing her and her family. Glaze and I send our best wishes to family; know that we love you all.

Mary was a special lady to me! She always had a beautiful smile when I visited her. During her last few years of her life, I would visit her and had the privilege of giving her holy communion during my visit at Covert Bridge. She loved to do puzzles with her family and friends, and kept pretty busy with making rosaries. I actually have one that she made. God Bless you!

I’ll always remember Mary ( and Joe ). When we first moved back to Seymour, we lived here just 2 years before, we visited St. Ambrose and they were the first couple we met. Their love for St. Ambrose was evident. I took over a bingo team and low and behold there they both sat, volunteering, along with some of their children! They were always good for a clean laugh. May she find eternal peace reunited with her love, Joe. God Bless her and the family!
