Mary Elizabeth Schneider, age 93, went home to Heaven on Monday March 7 at the Lutheran Community Home. She was born at home on Highway 11 between Seymour and Dudleytown on April 6, 1928, the first child of Albert Elmer and Alma Wilhelmina Rittmann Thoele. She married Donald Emil Schneider on November 26, 1950, in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour.
Mary was confirmed on her 13th birthday and graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School as valedictorian. She was second in her class when she graduated from Shields High School in 1945. She worked at Seymour National Bank before meeting Don at a Walther League Youth Group meeting. After marrying Don, she became a farm wife and mother. For several years she sold and delivered eggs in Seymour, also making many angel food cakes and noodles. She loved making quilts and braided rugs. She was a charter member of Zion Lutheran Church, and currently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and held other offices in the church. She was also a member of LWML.
Mary is survived by her daughter Julia (Danny) Branham, son Victor Schneider (Belinda Bell), daughter-in-law Jan Schneider, grandson Matthew (Nicole) Branham, sisters Helen Goecker and Irma Franke, sister-in-law Janice (Richard) VonDielingen, and great-grandchildren Cora, Luke, and Amy Branham. She is also survived by step grandchildren Lissa Wilson Allman, Bryan (Courtney) Wilson, Jackie and Maddie Bell, and step great-grandchildren Corbin and Carmyn Wilson and Sydney, Kendall and Karsen Allman. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald and son, Jerry Donald Schneider.
Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 12 at noon from Immanuel Lutheran Church with burial to follow at the Lutheran Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the church from 10am until time of service. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Community Home or the donor’s choice of charities.
