Melody Cay Weaver, 58, of Seymour took the hand of Jesus her Savior and went home on Friday, January 13 at 3:00 pm with her loving family and the caring staff of the Waters of Scottsburg by her side. She was born in Seymour on August 24, 1958, the daughter of Rev. William M (Bill) & Clara Mae (Mosley) Weaver. She graduated with the class of 1977 from Seymour High School. She served in the dietary department at the Lutheran Community Home for 20 years and at Jackson Park Nursing Home 10 years. Everyone would say that Melody had a warm, loving spirit and whoever met her was a better person afterward. She loved generously sharing of herself with others, especially children. She was famous for doting on her nieces and nephews and taking them out to eat and to the movies. Melody was very patriotic and loved worshiping her Lord. She loved missions and never missed the opportunity to ask if you knew the Lord. She’d smile and say, “If you do, you’ll go heaven.”
Melody had many interests. She loved sports; her favorite teams were IU basketball, the Dallas Cowboys, Indiana Pacers and Cincinnati Reds. Her favorite Nascar driver was Mark Martin. She loved music and loved singing all the way from the SHS choir, to the Reddington Christian Church choir and was still singing up until just a day before she passed. Melody was a member and faithful volunteer at Seymour Christian Church. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was always willing to volunteer and support the church in so many ways, especially giving to missions. She was so proud that her nephew Eric is serving with his wife Caitlin in Kenya.
Melody will be greatly missed by her parents, Bill and Clara Mae Weaver, sister Marsha (David) Branco, and brothers David (Julie) Weaver and Dan (Amy) Weaver. Her nieces and nephews are Kristal (Nate) Biehle, Adrienne Pitts, Neel Weaver, Eric (Caitlin) Pitts, Alicia (Caleb) Vance, Hannah Weaver and Sam Weaver. The great nieces and nephews are Taylor, Hayden, Desmond and Ryder.
Funeral services will be conducted by the caring staff of Voss and Sons Funeral Service at Seymour Christian Church, 915 Kasting Road in Seymour on Wednesday at 10:30. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and Wednesday from 9:30 until the service begins.
