I always looked forward to getting together with my cousins because you knew it was going to be continuous fun, kidding around, joking, and just having a good time. One time when I was in about the sixth grade my family went up to Seymour to visit Mike's family. My brother and I knew we weren't supposed to rough house and clown around as usual because Mike had just had his appendix removed earlier that week. Mike had to take it easy in bed, but we still got to sit in his room and visit with him. We tried to keep things calm, but it didn't take much to get Mike laughing. He'd laugh, but every time he did, it would cause him pain and he'd say "Don't make me laugh." Then that would make all of us, including Mike laugh even more. Even the pain from major surgery couldn't keep him from laughing and making others laugh. Several years later, at one of our family reunions in a state forest, Mike showed me his '57 Chevy and how to go through the gears of the four speed then he asked me if I wanted to drive it. There were trees right in front of his car and trees very close behind it so I said I'd better not maybe some other time. Mike said "Get in it and drive it, you're not going to hurt it." So I very carefully drove it and Mike just wasn't worried about it. I always appreciated Mike trusting me to drive his car and admired him for putting friendship before everything else. I wish we had more time with him. Nick Redden I'm so sorry
