Nancy Campbell, 96, passed away surrounded by family August 5, 2024, at 6:36 p.m., at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour, Indiana. She entered this life in Carrollton, Kentucky, on July 25, 1928, and was the loving daughter of the late Ezra and Dora (Hackett) Sutter.
Nancy spent many years as a foster grandparent in public schools, caring for and loving many children as her own. Prior to that, she worked as a pie baker and made the best pies in Seymour. Her hobbies included driving with both feet, drinking coffee, spending summers with her grandchildren, and always being a listening ear, with a particular fondness for flowers, squirrels, and butterflies. She was also an avid reader. Nancy is remembered by her family for praying for every family member nightly at the foot of her bed. She always had a smile and amazing hug and would respond “Mercy!” to any type of news shared by her family.
Nancy will be remembered for her love of Elvis, fantastic egg sandwiches, burnt popcorn, passion to help others, and as a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and sister. Her grace, intellect, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Nancy leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her children, Connie (Bill) Whittaker of Kentucky and Georganna (Gene) Shuler of Seymour; her brother, Bill Sutter of Cincinnati; her cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Shawn, Anson, Tiffany, Gena, Kala, Travis, Forest, Kyle and Korey; great grandchildren, Ethan, Trayton, Brody, and Ryker; great-great granddaughter, Gianna Ray; several cousins; and other family members.
Nancy is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, George Washington Campbell. A host of family will be awaiting Nancy’s arrival to heaven, including sisters, brothers, parents, and her first-born son Gary Campbell, who preceded her in death in 2006.
A graveside funeral service for Nancy will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Seymour. Pastor Robin Everhart will officiate.
