Mrs. Nellie Watson, 95, of Brownstown, passed away on Monday, August 14, peacefully at home. She was born on October 11, 1921, in Brownstown, to the late Mort Allman and Dora (Baker) Allman. She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ Easyville. She married William Watson, Sr. on May 15, 1938, he preceded her in death.
Nellie was famous for her Sunday dinners, cooking fried chicken, homemade noodles, dressing and enough to feed an army. She enjoyed making quilts for all of her grandchildren. She had the love of her local grandchildren and great grandchildren, who cared for her on a daily basis. She was co-owner and operator of Watson’s Service Station from 1945-1996 in Ewing.
Nellie is survived by a daughter, Virginia Dugan; grandchildren, Lisa (Randy) Henry, Georgia Watson, Kenny Watson, Nellie Reddick, and Glenn Erik, great grandchildren, Ben, Andrew and Zach Henry, Jessica (Rick) Wright, Matthew Watson, Sherina Watson, Lindsey Watson, and Seth Summers. She was very blessed with 12 great great grandchildren, 13 great great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; infant son: William Watson, Jr., son: Kenny (Buddy) Watson, son in law: Don Dugan, granddaughter: Chiquita Webber Quillen, great grandson: Jeffery Quillen, 3 brothers: J.C., J.D. and Ervin Allman, 5 sisters: Lottie Leaf, Sylvia Verzal, Esther Stigdon, Goldie Cockerham and Dessie Schwein.
Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Friday, August 18, at 10:30 am, with Rev. Barry DeWitt and Sister Jean Pogue officiating. Burial will follow at Acme Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday, August 17, from 4-8 pm, and on Friday from 9 am until time of service.
