So sorry to hear of Tony’s passing. I remember we went to a Reds game in the summer of 1971 with our dads and Dude. We rode in the back of someone’s station wagon, surrounded by plenty of snacks. After the game we were all in agreement that a newly acquired Red was going to be a star and now was one of our favorite players. Tony proclaimed the snacks we were devouring on the way home were to be known as “George Foster Cookies!” We always remembered that when we saw each other. Condolences to Dude and all the family.

I was in SSHS Class of 1970 and I'm still close friends with brother Randy. 50 years ago Tony was always Dude's off-the-wall little brother. Always had a smile on his face, white tennis shorts on his behind, and mouth hardwired straight to his brain. If Tony thought it, you heard it. Maybe several times. I didn't have much exposure to Tony after we became adults but his picture on this webpage tells me everything I missed. He looked so much like his dad, J. Avery, but probably with a verbal delivery rate 100 words per minute faster than his old man. Jackson County is certainly less colorful today because of Tony's passing, though "colorful" is too timid a term for such a raconteur. Condolences to John, Polly, Patty, Dude, and T's kids. I taught with Tony for 25 years and there was never a dull moment. I remember him walking down the 6th grade hallway and yelling “hot coffee” so the kids would get out of his way. Tony made it possible for my classroom to be the first to get a set of chrome books which I was so grateful for. I considered him a dear friend.

So sorry to hear about Tony’s passing. We went to school together. I would watch Tony on the Tennis courts being that our home at the time faced them. Tony was a very nice person. Sending prayers and hugs to the family Diane Zumhingst-Scott

Mr. Dittmer was my six grade teacher at BCMS. He was also my high school tennis coach. I had and still have so much respect for him! I was a multi-sport athlete, but I can honestly say that Tony Dittmer was one of the best coaches I had in any sport!! Please accept my heartfelt condolences and prayers for your entire family!! Respectfully, John K. Johnson, Class of 1986

John, Polly, Patty, Dude, Matt & Scott: I lost a dear friend this past weekend and I will miss him. We always shared a good laugh when together and he was always there for me when I needed him - about computers or when I needed to be driven somewhere, a dependable friend. We made several trips to Vegas with Jim & Jana Plump and he was my "roomie". Oh how he did love Vegas and the casino boats in Indiana. He was a 7 Diamond member and we always ate well and free. The four of us always shared a dinner " at the boat" to celebrate our birthdays on one night. Sadly due to COVID we did not do that the last two years, the night was missed by all. He was a good man, RIP my friend.
