Mrs. Phyllis Strong, 80, of Freetown, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Methodist Hospital Southlake in Merrillville. She was born in Seymour to the late Walter Stigdon and Helen (Guffey) Henderson.
A graveside service will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Riverview Cemetery on Thursday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m.
On July 23, 1961, Phyllis married Cleo Strong; he preceded her in death. Phyllis & Cleo were very generous and loving towards their niece and nephews. They were very special people to them.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Leasha (Stanley) Harmon, Bill (Jolene) Strong I; children raised in her home that she loved as her own, Larry Ferguson, Christy Vierling-Fee, Julie (Steve) Rumph, Billy (Vicki) Strong II; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Edwin (Shirley) Stigdon, Danny (Carol) Stigdon; sisters, Sherry Harris and Rhea (John) Allman.
She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Helen and Charlie Henderson; father and stepmother, Walter and Vera Stigdon; infant brother, Tommy Stigdon; and brothers, Walter Stigdon, William Goble, Gary Goble and Gene Goble.
