Reva Mae Goen Pearson, 93 of Seymour, passed away Sunday, November 29. 2020 at Home. She was born June 16, 1927 To John “Herbert” and Bessie (Emmons) Goen in Jackson County.
She graduated in 1945 from Clearspring High School and was a cheerleader. She led her classmates in cheer at all their class reunions.
She worked at Sciarra Cleaners for awhile before going to work for Indiana Bell Telephone Company. She then took a position at Cooperative Building Loan which soon became Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan. She retired from them after 25 years of service. She then worked for Mark Adams at Voss and Sons Funeral Service. She considered Mark a true friend and mothered him like a son. When she retired from there she took it upon herself to find a replacement with one of her long time friends Sharon Tirey. She also found joy meeting monthly with her coffee club friends.
On December 7, 1946 she married Marvin “Pete” Harold Pearson who passed away October 20, 2016. Reva and Mavin were owners of Pearson’s Grocery on East 6th Street in Seymour. They were essential in raising their grandson Gabriel Butler.
She is survived by her daughter Amber Jo (Rick) Prather, eight grandchildren; Gabriel (Tabetha), Justin, Jared, Casey, Amanda, Amy, Keith and Abby, and 17 great-grandchildren; Victoria, Brianna, Leigha, Brie, Bristin, Kennedie, Chandler, Donovan, Dylan, Colton, Aryanna, Mya, Emma, Ian, Nora, Ellie, Konner, Isaiah, and Zachary; and 2 great great grandchildren; Loryan Rae and Ali. Brothers and sisters in law; Robert “Gene” (Irma) Pearson, Ellen Pearson, and Velma Goen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Roger “Albie” Pearson, parents, and brothers Robert Goen and Keith Goen
Family asks that friends may call at Voss and Sons Funeral Service on Thursday from 11-1. Funeral service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rick Prather officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks are required before admittance to the funeral home as well as social distancing within the building. We kindly ask that there be no physical contact such as hugs or handshakes to protect staff and the family. Attendance is limited to 50 people at any given time.
